About Us
In the past, we made mistakes. Our packed schedules, consisting of a 45-hour drama school week, weekend jobs, assignments, and socialising, along with rigorous workouts five times a week, led to burnout, injuries, and performance plateaus.
Personally, I (Darcy) didn't understand my own body or how to take care of it. I labeled myself as "injury prone" and believed there was nothing I could do about it. It frustrated me to no end because these injuries meant time away from dance classes and auditions.
As for me (Ben), I was completely lost. I couldn't figure out how to build muscle, fill out my frame, and appear stronger, let alone leverage that for my career. Many people, including teachers and colleagues, constantly advised me to forget about the gym, claiming it would only hinder my dancing ability.
But they were mistaken! Individually, we started addressing our challenges by focusing on proper nutrition to fuel our workouts, prehab exercises to prevent injuries, and mobility training to enhance our dance ability. And then, we met!
Together, we discussed our past, our love for training and how we felt the gym could help us as we started our new acting job. The taboo that the gym and performing couldn’t go hand in hand only motivated us - so much so we wanted to share our accumulated knowledge with the industry!
And so Primed To Perform was born.
